Im new to aquaponics but have a history in hydroponics and i would suggest if you had a slow flow rate (a dribble) you would have trouble with loss of oxygenation in the water under the wicking bed.. Not saying it's perfect but i thought this looked like it had some possibilities. system uses a wick going down into a gutter (a net pot going through a hole in the bucket bottom)..
